The Development Process for Technology Products
Whether you are producing interactive lesson plans, remedial reading programs, or other new media educational tools, most educational technology products follow a similar development process. ePP's services are designed to ensure that each phase of the process, and so the entire project, is successful.
Phases of Product Development |
ePP's Services at Every Phase |
Project Development Develop idea for new media program, assemble legacy content, and/or identify the need for new content |
Often the idea for a new product is general. ePP's understanding of how all the pieces of a technology project fit together, along with our instructional design capabilities, allow us to help clarify needs, suggest new media programs, and recommend most efficient processes to help achieve our clients' goals. |
Content Preparation Write, review and/or prepare content for most effective use in new media; create templates, graphical interfaces and/or animations based on branding, instructional purpose, and pedagogy |
Editoral & Design ePP works closely with our clients to create new content and to develop processes through which legacy content can be repurposed for best use in new media. We also design usability-focused graphical interfaces, graphics, and animations. |
Content Processing Create, convert and/or manipulate assets into appropriate file formats for ingestion into electronic publishing engine(s) to produce system files. Program Assembly Integrate system files and assets into the new media product |
Editorial Production ePP carries out preparation of content and/or conversion of files into required formats, templates, spreadsheets and/or databases. We also work directly with other technology or asset vendors as needed to ensure that all files & assets are created and correctly processed to deliver all necessary elements of the product. |
Content & Functionality Review Review product on development server or in alpha/beta version on disk to identify, track, repair, and regress bugs to ensure the highest quality end product. |
Quality Assurance Once all pieces of the product are combined and output in a format that mirrors the final user interface, ePP reviews every aspect, from content accuracy to technical functionality, and helps devise innovative fixes for any problems. |
Delivery Final output of new media product for distribution online or on disk |
After the Quality Assurance process is complete, ePP ensures that the final corrected files are provided to the client and/or the client's chosen production vendor for creation of the new media product. |
